Thursday, January 12, 2012 at 12:27PM Julia Fein Interview: "Big"
Lily Brooks '12
From singing to acting to dancing, Julia Fein has all the great attributes of becoming a big star. She recently participated in an outside theatre group’s production of “Big” and had quite a memorable experience. I got the chance to talk with her about “Big” and her love for acting.
Brooksie: What is the play “Big” about?
Julia: The play is about a 13 year old boy who makes a wish to become bigger. He does, and lands a job at a toy company. A woman falls in love with him and he discovers that being big is harder than he expected.
B: How did you get involved with it?
J: I'm always looking for shows to do. Turtle Lane was a great place for me because it is really close to my house, and rehearsals did not conflict with the school play rehearsals.
B: What do you think the main message in the play is?
J: I think the main message is to enjoy youth. Don't rush growing up!
B: How many shows are you performing?
J: We performed 10 shows. We were supposed to perform 14, but the opening was postponed; the lead was not able to perform so we had to replace him briefly. Fortunately, he was alright and was able to perform for the rest of the shows.
B: When did you become interested in acting?
J: I started taking classes around age 7, but was interested when I was even littler. Maybe around age 5.
B: I know that you are in the Winter Play; how do you like it so far?
J: I really like it! I have never been in an original play before so it is a really cool experience. It's awesome to have everyone's beliefs expressed in the play.
As you can see, Julia loves being a part of plays, so make sure to see her on stage for the opening of the Winter play, “The Boal Original” starting on February 2nd!
