This year at Beaver Country Day a second block of time for Advisory has been added to the schedule. The time provided on Monday and Wednesday has been very useful for many students. It is used for advisers and their advises to catch up. Although each group does this differently, the basic principle is the same. Students are given a teacher that can help them work through the dilemmas faced while in high school. This teacher can help with anything from social problems to being overwhelmed with work. In addition, by having the extra block students have developed a closer bond with their superiors. For example, in Mr. Principe’s advisory every time there is a birthday he brings in special food to celebrate. Most advisories have food each meeting. This allows students to refuel between classes. Along with becoming close with the advisor, students become closer through this allotted time. It allows them to hang out without work being involved. The extra time added to the Beaver schedule allows students and advisers to become confidential.
