    Where To Go Skiing

    Abraham Hyatt '13

For a lot of people, wintertime means the time to go skiing. Even with the lack of snow, skiing and visiting different mountains were still popular activities among Beaver students during the winter break and continue to be as the winter season wears on. Having been to many mountains in the area, I wanted to get a sense of where Beaver students usually go skiing during the winter season. Nima Olumi ‘13 told me that he “enjoyed a trip to Sunday River this winter break, and occasionally [visits] further mountains like Deer Valley (Utah) and Mount Tremblant (Canada).” Connor Laubenstein ‘12 mentioned that he frequents Watervill Valley and Loon. Other areas included Cannon Mountain, Okemo, Killington, Pico and Mount Snow. It seems, despite the shortage of snow this year, skiing is still popular among Beaver students.

    Studio Selections: Student Art Show

    Alexandra Bernard ‘14

On Friday, January 6th, the Nancy Lincoln Art gallery at Beaver opened its display of student artwork. In this exhibit, 29 pieces are displayed by students from ninth to twelfth grade. These pieces include drawings, sculptures, paintings and pictures.

When walking into the exhibit, the first piece is called “Sam.” It is a pencil-drawn portrait by Sara Radin ‘12 of her brother. “I just went up to him with my camera and that’s how I got a genuine expression.” Sara decided to use pencil because there weren’t many pencil drawings in her portfolio. This drawing took her a total of 10 hours. I think this piece is really amazing because it has very good shading and looks very realistic.

    Coldplay Album Review

    Maddy Cary '14

On October 24, Coldplay released their long-anticipated fifth studio album, Mylo Xyloto. For those of us who scrutinized the blogosphere for any scrap of news about the new album, our expectations were very high, but with good reason. We fans have been spoiled; Coldplay's previous albums-- Yellow, The Scientist, and more recently, Prospekt’s March-- have led us to expect nothing short of greatness. I am happy to say that Mylo does not disappoint.

    Country Music Awards 2011

    Sarah Goldberg '13

It comes as no surprise that this year’s CMA’s were both hilarious and inspirational.  The night started off with funny banter between the two hosts, Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood. Throughout the night they made jokes about different artists including a Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman doll. One of the night’s highlights was Luke Bryant performing his hit song “Country Girl”. He brought a lot of enthusiasm to the stage as he showed off his sparkly black pants that he fashioned during the song.
